An informal review of Forbes wealthiest people in America shows that only 19 of the top 50 obtained their fortune from the family business. Why do we despise them? Why do we wish to take their money from them? These are entrepreneurs that create millions of jobs and are the engines of America’s economic growth and power. They created vast wealth by hard work and intelligence, not from inheritance, as is the case with many other nations around the world. These people should be celebrated and looked to for inspiration, not vilified. The future of our economy depends on the next generation seeking to make great companies and great fortunes in America just as these men and women have done over the past 60 years.

Another interesting note, at least nine of the 50 were immigrants or children of immigrants. Another reason we need to reform our immigration system.
